SOY GLAZED SPARE RIBS WITH STAR ANISE

Preparation Method :

  • Cut the spare ribs into three pieces. Use a sharp knife to make diamond pattern in the pork to help the marinade penetrate the meat.
  • To make the marinade, combine the star anise and garlic in a mortar and pound into a paste.
  • Add the sugar or honey and soy sauce and mix well. Marinate the ribs in this mixture for at least 1½  hours.
  • Grill the spare ribs over medium heat for 15 minutes, turning them regularly and basting with the leftover marinade.
  • Alternatively, roast them in the oven for 10 minutes at 350°F (180°C), basting periodically with the leftover marinade.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 kg pork spare ribs
  • 6 star anise pods
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 4 tablespoons palm sugar or dark brown sugar or honey
  • 125 ml soy sauce
