Preparation Method :

  • Wash and clean chicken. Dry thoroughly and chop through the bone into 10 or 12 pieces.
  • Combine five spice powder and corn flour and toss with chicken.
  • Heat oil in a wok and deep-fry chicken pieces in batches, for 5 minutes; drain well.
  • Reheat the oil and deep-fry chicken until golden brown and cooked. Drain on absorbent kitchen paper.
  • Garnish with lemon wedges and shallots.
  • Serve hot with Chinese rice. 


  • 2 kg chicken
  • 2 teaspoons five spice powder
  • 2 tablespoons corn flour
  • IDHAYAM MANTRA Peanut Oil, for deep-frying
  • Lemon wedges 
  • Shallot curls to garnish
