Preparation Method :

  • Pierce chicken pieces with a skewer. Combine soy sauce, sherry, lemon juice and honey. Brush over chicken pieces and let stand 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil. Add ginger, garlic and salt. Add drained chicken pieces and brown evenly. Pour off excess oil, add marinade and stock.
  • Simmer covered 45 minutes until tender. Turn chicken pieces twice during cooking.
  • Remove chicken and place on a serving platter. Stir blended corn flour and water into sauce.
  • When boiling, strain and spoon over chicken pieces.
  • Serve garnished with lemon. 


  • 1½ kg fresh chicken pieces
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry
  • Juice 4 lemons, strained 
  • 6 tablespoons honey
  • 4 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger root
  • 2 teaspoons chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 ml chicken stock or water
  • 2 tablespoons corn flour blended with
  • 4 tablespoons cold water slices of fresh lemon to garnish
