SOY AND SESAME BEEF

Preparation Method :

  • Heat a large wok or heavy-based frying pan (skillet) until it is very hot.
  • Add the sesame seeds to the wok or frying pan (skillet) and dry fry, stirring, for 1 - 2 minutes or until they just begin to brown.
  • Remove the sesame seeds from the wok and set aside until required.
  • Using a sharp knife or meat cleaver, thinly slice the beef.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in the wok or frying pan (skillet). Add the beef and stir-fry for 2 - 3 minutes or until sealed on all sides.
  • Add the sliced (bell) pepper and crushed garlic to the wok and continue stir-frying for 2 minutes.
  • Add the dry sherry and soy sauce to the wok together with the spring onions (scallions).
  • Allow the mixture in the wok to bubble, stirring occasionally, for about 1 minute, but do not let the mixture burn.
  • Transfer the garlic beef stir-fry to warm serving bowls and scatter with the dry-fried sesame seeds.
  • Serve hot with boiled noodles.

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 grams sesame seeds
  • 750 grams beef fillet
  • 4 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 2 green (bell) pepper, deseeded and thinly sliced
  • 8 cloves garlics, crushed
  • 4 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 6 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 10 spring onions (scallions), sliced
  • Noodles, to serve
