Preparation Method :

  • Clean and scale fish, brush all over outside with egg, and dust with corn flour.
  • Heat oil in wok, add fish, fry gently on both sides until golden brown; discard oil.
  • Transfer the fish to greased baking dish, bake in moderate oven about 20 minutes or until fish is just tender, turn once after about 10 minutes.
  • Cut carrot, pepper and onion into thin strips. Heat extra oil in wok, add carrot and onion, stir-fry 3 minutes, add pepper, and stir-fry 2 minutes.
  • Blend 1 tablespoon of corn flour with water, sauces, sugar and vinegar, add to wok, stir until mixture boils and thickens, pour over fish, sprinkle with shallots.


  • 1 kg whole snapper  
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 75 grams corn flour
  • 75 ml Cooking oil
  • 1 large carrot
  • 1 small green pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 150 ml water
  • 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown vinegar
  • 2 green shallots, chopped
