GREEK PASTELI (SESAME SEED & HONEY SNACKS)

Preparation Time :
10 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Spread the sesame seeds on a baking sheet and roast in a preheated oven at 180 degree C until golden brown.
  • Boil honey and water in a sauce pan until mixture thickens and becomes elastic or reaches "firm ball stage" (the honey mixture reaches a temperature of 120°C).
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the sesame seeds, lemon zest and walnut.
  • On a flat marble surface or metal trays spread the mixture evenly with a spatula or knife (1 cm in thickness).
  • Cut it into squares or diamond shaped pieces immediately.
  • Allow it to cool and then it can be either served immediately or stored in air-tight container.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams hulled sesame seeds 
  • 100 grams walnut, chopped
  • 150 ml honey 
  • 100 ml water 
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest, chopped finely
