Preparation Method :

  • Add water to the sugar and slowly bring to boil until the sugar has melted. 
  • Once the sugar and water mixture starts to feel sticky, add the milk powder to the sugar mixture, stir and add in the milk and ghee.
  • Mix well and once mixed, turn off the heat.  Add the saffron and cardamom powder now.
  • Grease a dish with ghee and pour the mixture onto the dish. 
  • Allow this mixture to cool.
  • Cut the chocolate into small pieces and put it in a heatproof bowl and place it in a shallow pan filled with hot water. Keep stirring the chocolate to avoid it scorching.
  • Once melted, spread it evenly over the burfi and allow it cool.
  • Once cool, cut the burfi into bite size squares and store on an airtight container.  


  • 1 kg full cream milk powder
  • 300 grams sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 3 pinches of saffron
  • 2 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter)
  • 200 ml milk
  • 500 grams cooking chocolate
