Preparation Method :

  • Heat milk in a heavy-bottomed pan and bring to a boil.
  • Combine the ground rice with sufficient water and cook by constantly stirring.
  • Then add saffron and milk and mix well. Cook by continuous stirring until the milk thickens.
  • Add sugar and cardamom powder and cook until sugar dissolves.
  • Remove from heat. Add rose water and stir well.
  • Pour phirni into individual serving bowls and garnish with almond slivers.
  • Serve hot or chill in a refrigerator for an hour before serving.


  • 1 liter whole milk
  • 5 tablespoons rice, washed and ground coarsely
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rose water
  • A pinch of Saffron
  • ¼ teaspoon green cardamom powder
  • 10 almonds, blanched and slivered
