Preparation Method :

  • To Make The Filling: Rinse and soak the dhal for about an hour. Cook.
  • Mash the dal and cook with jaggery, salt, coconut and cardamom powder till dry.
  • To Make The Dough: Add water gradually to the flour with the ghee and knead well.
  • Cover and keep it aside for about 20 - 30 minutes. Knead once again and make small balls and roll out into disc.
  • Place some filling on one side of the rolled out discs and shape it in the form of half moon nevris.
  • Fry in hot oil / ghee till golden brown.


  • 150 grams combination of wheat flour and refined flour
  • 50 ml water
  • 1 teaspoon ghee

For the Filling:

  • 150 grams Channa dal
  • 150 grams grated jaggery
  • A pinch of salt
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
