Preparation Method :

  • Soak rice and spread over cloth to dry a little and powder.
  • Grate coconut.                  
  • Melt jaggery in water over fire and strain to remove scum.
  • Half the cashews and fry in ghee.
  • Powder cardamom.
  • Fry rice powder to golden color while still wet.
  • Boil a 200 ml of water, add turmeric powder and salt; sprinkle on rice powder and knead in a way that it remains a powdery consistency; add grated coconut and steam it like idles.
  • Prepare jaggery syrup stirring well over the fire. Add little by little to the steamed rice and stir well. Ensure there are no lumps.
  • While adding jaggery makes sure it remains crumbly & soft.
  • Add fried cashew nuts and cardamom powder.


  • 600 grams of Rice 
  • 600 grams of Jaggery 
  • 200 grams of Coconut 
  • 2 teaspoon Turmeric powder 
  • 2 teaspoons Cardamom 
  • Cashew a few
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee 
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
