Preparation Method :

  • Combine sifted flour and almonds in large bowl; rub in ghee. Stir in combined yogurt, water and rosewater; mix to a soft dough.
  • Turn dough onto floured surface; knead until smooth. Divide dough into 30-32 portions; roll portions into balls. Flatten with fingers.
  • Melt extra ghee for deep-frying in medium saucepan; deep-fry doughnuts in batches until golden brown. Remove from pan; drain on absorbent paper.
  • Toss hot doughnuts in caster sugar; serve with sweet yogurt.
  • Sweet Yogurt Combine yogurt, rosewater and sifted icing sugar in small bowl; mix well.


  • 300 grams self-raising flour  
  • 100 grams plain yogurt
  • 50 ml warm water  
  • 1 teaspoon rosewater
  • 45 grams packaged ground almonds  
  • 75 grams ghee, melted
  • Ghee for deep-frying
  • 75 grams castor sugar

Sweet Yogurt

  • 200 grams plain yogurt  
  • ½ teaspoon rosewater
  • 1 tablespoon icing sugar
