Preparation Method :

  • Add the sprouted dal to the boiled water and cook for about 5 minutes or until its half cooked.
  • When it is half cooked, drop in a few cashew nuts and cook the mixture till tender. Add salt. Keep aside.
  • Fry the fenugreek seeds until it turns red.
  • Grind coconut with fried fenugreek seeds and red chillies to a paste.
  • Add in the coconut , chilli paste and tamarind juice with dal. Bring to boil for 5 minutes. Remove the pan from heat.
  • Fry chopped onions with ghee in a pan for 2 minutes or until it turns golden brown and mix the baghar to dal.


  • 200 grams green gram , Sprouted and peeled
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ coconut, 
  • 4 dry red chillies 
  • 1 tablespoon, Tamarind juice 
  • ¼ teaspoon fenugreek seeds 
  • 1 teaspoon Cooking oil
  • 3 shallots, chopped 
  • 2 tablespoon ghee 
  • 2 tablespoon, cashew nuts
