Preparation Method :

  • Heat a Kadhai and put 2 tsp oil and Add mustard, jeera (cumin seeds), curry leaves, and one red chilly.
  • Pour 4 glasses of water. Let it boil, add salt as per taste.
  • In a mixcy, add chana dhal, grated coconut, Ginger and green chillies with a little coriander leaves and make a coarse paste.
  • Pour this paste to the boiling mixture and then add daliya to it. Let it cook for a while.
  • Take it out from the heat and cool it for 5 minutes.
  • Then make a soft roundels as you do for uppuma kozhukattai .
  • Prepare the steamer and steam the balls for 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot with chutney.


  • 2 teaspoon Cooking oil

  • A handful chana dal (soaked)
  • Green chilles
  • 4 teaspoon Grated coconut
