BALTI CHICKEN

Preparation Method :

  • Spice Mixture: Mix the turmeric, ground coriander, cumin and chilli powder in a small bowl with the water.
  • Heat the oil in a large heavy-based frying pan, add the onion and fry until soft.
  • Stir the spice mixture into the onion and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until the liquid has dried up.
  • Add the pieces of chicken and fry on all sides, then add the tomatoes and adjust seasoning with salt to taste. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes.
  • Add the green pepper, garlic and chillies. Cook for about 3-5 minutes or until all the tomato juice have evaporated.
  • Serve hot with rotis.

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 grams skinless, boneless chicken, cubed
  • 750 grams tomatoes, chopped
  • 90 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
  • 1 green pepper, cored, deseeded and cut into squares
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 6 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 3 fresh green chillies, chopped
  • Chilli powder and salt, to taste
  • Rotis, to serve
