ONION BAJJI

Preparation Time :

Cooking Time :
15 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Mix all the ingredients except onion in a bowl.
  • Gradually add the water to make a smooth, thick batter and keep it aside.
  • Heat the peanut oil in a deep- frying pan.
  • Dip the onion circle in the batter and make sure that the batter coats on to both the sides of the onion and deep fry.
  • Dip the onions one by one and deep fry six pieces at a time over medium heat.
  • When it is golden brown, take it out from the oil and place it on a kitchen towel to drain the excess oil.
  • Serve hot with coconut or mint chutney.
  • The same preparation method can be followed by replacing the onions with potato or green plantain or aubergine.
  • Serve Immediately.

INGREDIENTS

  • 300 grams of gram flour
  • 75 grams of rice flour
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of asafoetida powder
  • 1teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1 pinch of red food colour
  • Salt as desired
  • 3 onion, peeled and finely sliced in circles
  • IDHAYAM MANTRA Peanut Oil for deep-frying
