KALKANDU PONGAL

Preparation Method :

  • Heat up a dry sauce pan and fry the moong dal and keep it aside.
  • Powder the kalkandu pieces.
  • Heat up the ghee in a pan and fry the cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Heat up a heavy bottomed vessel and add milk and water and bring to boil.
  • Now add the fried moong dal and rice.
  • When the rice and moong dal are done, add the kalkandu powder and mix well.
  • Add ghee, fried cashew nuts, raisins, cardamom powder, saffron and edible camphor and stir.
  • Delightful kalkandu pongal ready to relish.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams of Raw Rice
  • 300 grams of Kalkandu (rock sugar)
  • 50 grams of Moong Dal
  • 300 ml of milk
  • 200 ml of water
  • 50 grams  of Cashew Nuts
  • 20 grams of raisins
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • 75 grams of Ghee
  • ¼ teaspoon of edible camphor
  • ¼ teaspoon of Saffron
