Preparation Method :

  • Heat the Ghee and add the coconut pieces and stir-fry for about a minute or until the raw smell of the coconut is replaced. Set aside.
  • Warm the strained jaggery syrup in the skillet. Add cardamom powder, stir and remove from heat.
  • Add all the dry ingredients together along with coconut.
  • Now slowly spoon the jaggery syrup to form tight dough. Set aside for at least half an hour.
  • This enables the flour to absorb all the flavors. Place a damp cloth.
  • Take a small piece of the dough and use a greased palm, roll it out into small balls a little bigger than uppu seedai.
  • Deep fry in batches till it turns to deep brown. Slowly move it around to prevent it from sticking to one another.
  • Drain in paper towels to remove excess oil.

INGREDIENTS

  • 350 grams Jaggery, soaked in hot water and strained
  • 350 grams sifted Rice Flour, dry roasted
  • 50 grams fresh small thinly chopped coconut pieces
  • 2 tablespoon Urad Dhal flour  
  • 2 teaspoon of ghee
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 teaspoon white Sesame seeds
