Preparation Method :

  • Heat a heavy-bottomed pan and stir in the bacon and chorizo sausages.
  • Simmer to medium and when the oil starts coming out of the meats, add in the bay leaves, cardamom, cinnamon and peppercorns.
  • When the spices start to change colour, add in the drained chickpeas. Stir it for a minute or two.
  • Add the thyme, beef, chicken, onions and garlic. Stir the ingredients on medium heat till the meat starts to turn golden on the surface.
  • Add the carrots, potatoes, French beans and add enough water to cover all the ingredients and cook for at least 20-25 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust the seasonings; add more water if needed.
  • When the potatoes are cooked through and the chicken is tender, remove from the heat and serve hot. 


  • 1 kg Chicken with bone, cut into large chunks
  • 250 grams Beef cut into small chunks
  • 150 grams onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon garlic, chopped
  • 120 grams carrots, cut into large chunks
  • 150 grams Potatoes, peeled and cut into large cubes
  • 120 grams French beans, cut into batons
  • 125 grams Chickpeas, soaked overnight, rinsed and drained
  • 150 grams bacon, chopped
  • 120 grams Chorizo sausage, chopped
  • 2-3 Bay leaves
  • 7 grams Black peppercorns
  • 2-3 Cinnamon sticks
  • 5-7 pods Cardamom
  • 2 Thyme sprigs
  • Salt to taste
