Preparation Method :

  • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan. Fry cinnamon and cardamom.
  • Add onions saute till golden brown
  • Add ground masala and the ginger garlic paste. Saute the raw smell disappears and the oil separates.
  • Add tomatoes and salt and cook till it becomes soft.
  • Add chicken and the salt to taste with sufficient water cook the chicken. Have the lid on the vessel.
  • When chicken is almost cooked, reduce the flame and the curry simmer till the oil floats on top.
  • Remove from heat and serve with parottas or rice.


  • 2 kilogram chicken cut into pieces
  • 4 onions chopped coarsely
  • 4 tomatoes chopped
  • 2 long cinnamon broken
  • 4 pods cardamom
  • 5 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt to taste

To be roasted dry and ground

  • 3 teaspoon aniseed
  • 5 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 5 teaspoon black pepper corns
  • 5 teaspoon dried coriander seed
  • 6 dried red chillies
