Preparation Method :

  • Clean crabs and chop with shell into medium size pieces.
  • Slice onions. Chop tomatoes. Make the tamarind pulp.
  • Grind together all ingredients for the masala.
  • Heat oil. Saute sliced onions. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook.
  • Add in the crab pieces and a little water. Cook till done.
  • To the cooked crab add the ground masala and cook for some time.
  • Adjust seasoning. Add tamarind water and the turmeric powder. Stir and remove from fire.


  • 500 grams Crabs    
  • 1 Coconut    
  • 3-4 Red chilies    
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin    
  • 3-4 cloves Garlic    
  • 1 Onions    
  • 1 Tomato    
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder    
  • Salt to taste    
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoon Tamarind water
