Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a pan; add in the chopped onions and the fresh chillies. Stir and continue cooking till the onions are golden.
  • Add in a pinch of turmeric powder and the tomatoes and cook till the tomatoes turn pulpy.
  • Add in both, the grated coconut and the dry coconut paste, the ground coriander paste and simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add in the cooked clams and the kokum; simmer for a couple of minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning. Stir in the fresh coriander leaves and remove from the heat and serve hot.


  • 220 grams Grated fresh coconut
  • 750 grams Fresh clams, cleaned, rinsed, opened and roasted with a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 120 grams onions, chopped
  • 150 grams tomatoes, chopped
  • 3-4 fresh chillies, chopped
  • 45 grams Dry coconut, ground to a paste
  • 2-3 Kokum
  • 25 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 grams fresh coriander leaves, chopped to garnish

Ground to Coarse Paste

  • 50 grams Coriander leaves
  • 2 tablespoon Mint leaves
  • 30 grams garlic cloves, peeled
  • 30 grams ginger, peeled
