FISH AND BRINJAL CURRY

Preparation Method :

  • Apply salt and turmeric powder on the fish slices. Set aside for about 15-20 minutes then fry it lightly.
  • Heat the oil and put in the mustard seeds, when it splutters add in the onion and fry till soft.
  • Put in the ground spice paste and fry till a nice aroma comes out of the mixture. Put in tamarind and 3 cups water and bring to a boil.
  • Simmer to low flame, cook for few minutes and add in the brinjals and fish slices.
  • Cover and cook till both the fish and vegetable is done. Serve with plain boiled rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams white fish, cleaned, washed and sliced
  • 225 grams brinjals, cut into long thick slices
  • 2 tablespoon tamarind juice
  • 2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 150 grams onion sliced
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • Salt to taste

Dry Roasted and Ground to Fine Paste

  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 4-6 flakes garlic
  • Red chillies, to taste
  • 1-inch piece ginger
  • 1 onion
  • 100 grams shredded coconut
