Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the meat with the chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste with chilli powder, turmeric powder and sambhar powder. Rest in a cool place for about half an hour.
  • In a thick-bottomed pot heat the ghee. Toss in the cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and dried red chillies.
  • When the spices puff up and start to change colour, add in the meat and stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Adjust the seasoning with salt, simmer to low flame for about 20-30 minutes stirring it occasionally.
  • Cook uncovered, stirring for about 3-5 minutes or until the meat is soft and the gravy has started to thicken. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  • Add the ground garam masala, coconut and the coriander leaves. Remove from the flame and serve hot. 


  • 750 grams meat cut into cubes, washed, cleaned and drained
  • 150 grams Chopped onions  
  • 2 teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoon Whole black peppercorns
  • 1½ teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 teaspoon Garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 3-5 Whole dried red chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Sambhar masala powder
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee
  • 5-7 Cardamom pods
  • 4 Cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tablespoon Freshly grated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped coriander leaves
