PRAWNS PICKLED IN TRADITIONAL GOAN SPICES

Preparation Method :

  • Grind all the ingredients except the prawns and the oil. Marinate the prawns with the spicy paste.
  • Heat the oil in a thick-bottomed pot and add in the marinated prawns with the marinade.
  • Stir on medium heat for 15-20 minutes or until the oil rising up from the sides of the pot and the spice paste has turned to dark red shade.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning and serve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams Prawns, peeled, deveined and washed
  • 225 ml palm vinegar
  • 150 ml Palm feni
  • 25 grams Chopped garlic
  • 20 grams Chopped ginger
  • 120 grams Sliced shallots
  • 25 grams Dried red chillies
  • 2 tablespoon Black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • 3-4 Cinnamon
  • 120 ml Cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 6 Cloves  
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 teaspoon Sugar
