Preparation Method :

  • Chocolate Truffle: In a double boiler melt dark chocolate. Add cream and stir till it forms a thick spreading consistency. Remove and cool.
  • Cream sugar and butter in a bowl till fluffy. Whisk eggs and add to this mixture. Beat well. Fold in sieved flour, baking powder and cocoa powder.
  • Pour in a greased round cake tin.
  • Pre-heat the oven to 200°C and bake for about 30 - 40 minutes.
  • Remove and cool and cut into two horizontal layers and lightly sprinkle with dark rum.
  • Divide the chocolate truffle into 3 equal parts and spread one part on each layer of cut cake. Sandwich the layers and coat the sides and top with chocolate truffle.
  • Add almonds or praline between layers.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla Ice-cream.

  • 275 grams Refined flour

  • 125 ml Dark rum    
  • 475 grams Sugar

  • 150 grams Cream
