Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a saucepan and when hot add the mustards seeds and wait for them to crackle.
  • Add red chilli, cinnamon and coconut slices, saute for 2 minutes. Add shallots, chopped ginger and garlic and saute for 5 minutes.
  • Add ginger and garlic paste, mix well. Add tomato and water, cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add all the powdered spices, salt and chicken. Mix well with the spices.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Serve on the plate garnished with sliced raw onion rings and sliced tomato.


  • 750 grams chicken cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoon mustard seeds
  • 100 grams coconut slices
  • 100 grams shallots, sliced
  • 2 teaspoon ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoon garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 2 tomato medium sized, sliced length ways
  • 3 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 2 inch cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon curry leaves
  • 2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 teaspoon ground cumin seeds
  • 4 dry red chilies
  • Salt to taste
