Preparation Method :

  • Cook the jack fruit in a little water with turmeric and salt. Crush and shred into fibres.
  • Grind cumin seeds and chilli seeds. Crush grated coconut with it.
  • Put the shredded jackfruit in a pan. Scoop a well in the centre and place the ground masala.
  • Cover it up with the jackfruit. Cover the pan and cook on slow fire. When the steam escapes shake the pan and allow the water to be absorbed.
  • Fry mustard and rice in hot oil. Add onion and stir till the colour changes. Toss in the prepared thoren and sauté till dry. Serve hot.


  • 800 grams shredded tender jackfruit, remove the outer skin, cut into small pieces
  • 150 grams grated coconut
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon seeds from dry chillies


  • 50 grams onion chopped
  • 1½ tablespoon Cooking oil
  • ½ teaspoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon rice
  • 2 dry chillies chopped
