Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil and fry mustard, black gram dhal, dry chillies, chopped onions, green chillies and curry leaves.
  • Stir in the tapioca and add salt to taste. Gently stir till the water is absorbed.
  • Mix the grated coconut with the rest of the ingredients just before taking the thoren from heat.
  • Sprinkle the crumbled papads just before serving.


  • 400 grams Finely grated tapioca- par boiled and drained
  • 50 grams onion chopped 
  • 1 tablespoon green chillies sliced round 
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • ½ teaspoon mustard
  • 30 grams grated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon black gram dhal
  • 2 dry red chillies each cut into pieces 
  • A few curry leaves 
  • Salt to taste
  • 100 grams papad fried and crumbled
