Preparation Method :

  • Finely chop the par cooked plantain pieces.
  • Heat the oil and fry mustard and then add in the black gram dhal, followed by the dry chillies and curry leaves. Saute for few minutes.
  • Add chopped onion and green chilli. Add the turmeric powder and the finely chopped plantain.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt. Add the grated coconut just before removing the thoren from heat. Mix well.


  • 4 plantains, pared, par cooked 
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 75 grams grated coconut 
  • 45 grams onion finely chopped 
  • 1 tablespoon green chilli sliced round
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1½ teaspoon black gram dhal
  • 2 dry red chillies quartered 
  • A few curry leaves 
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder 
  • Salt to taste
