Preparation Method :

  • Grind the dry chillies, turmeric, asafetida and salt to a smooth paste. Smear the plantain slices with it. Spread the slices in the sun for a while.
  • Deep fry the slices in hot oil till crisp. Lift and drain the chips.
  • Fry the green chilli slices and curry leaves crisp and add it to the chips.
  • When cool store in air-tight containers to keep it fresh and crisp.


  • 500 grams Plantain of any variety 
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric 
  • 4 green chillies cut into thin round slices
  • Dry chillies, to taste
  • Pinch of Asafetida 
  • Salt to taste
  • A few curry leaves
