Preparation Method :

  • Smear half of the oil on the skin of the plantains and roast directly on an open flame till cooked, Cool.
  • Skin the plantains and grate them. Mix in the salt and set aside.
  • Heat the remaining oil and fry the Bengal gram dal, black gram dal, red gram dal, asafoetida powder and red chillies. Powder fine in a grinder.
  • Mix the grated plantain with the powder in a pan on low heat till well blended.
  • Serve with rice or on the side.


  • 250 grams raw green plantains
  • 2 tablespoon Bengal gram dal
  • 2 tablespoon black gram dal
  • 1 tablespoon red gram dal
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • ½ teaspoon asafoetida powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 9 dry red chillies
