Preparation Method :

  • Knead the refined flour with enough water and oil into a soft dough. Divide the dough equally into 15 portions.
  • Take a portion, make a hollow in the centre and fill with the green gram mixture. Seal the filling inside. Repeat with the other portions.
  • Cover the stuffed balls with a moist cloth and keep aside for about 15 minutes. Roll out each portion into a thin disc with some dry flour.
  • Roast the disc on a griddle on both sides with spoonful of oil. Remove and repeat with the other discs. Serve hot.
  • Filling: Heat little oil in a pan; add asafoetida and cumin seeds, sauté for a few seconds.
  • Add the green gram paste and the remaining ingredients; sauté till the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and is soft.


  • 250 grams refined flour
  • 75 grams split green gram, soaked, drained
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 75 grams split green gram, soaked, drained and ground to a paste
  • A pinch Asafoetida
  • Red chilli powder, to taste
  • Salt to taste
