Preparation Method :

  • Add the onion seeds, ginger, garlic, chilli powder, turmeric, salt and ground coriander with the cubed chicken and half of the sliced mango in a large bowl.
  • Heat the oil in a wok or large pan over a medium heat and fry the sliced onions until golden brown. Add the curry leaves to the pan and stir very gently to release their flavour.
  • Add in the chicken and the sliced mango mixture into the pan, stirring. Stir-fry over a medium heat until the chicken is opaque.
  • Pour in the water and cook for about 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked and the water has been completely absorbed.
  • Add the remaining mango slices, the tomatoes, green chillies and fresh coriander. Serve with the plain boiled rice.


  • 500 grams chicken breast fillets, skinned and cubed 
  • 100 grams tomatoes, quartered 
  • ½ teaspoon onion seeds 
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh root ginger
  • 100 grams onions, sliced 
  • 1 green unripe mango, peeled, pitted and sliced. 
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 1½ teaspoon chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 250 ml water 
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 3 fresh green chillies, chopped
  • Few curry leaves
  • Salt, to taste
  • 25 grams chopped fresh coriander
