Preparation Method :

  • In a bowl, marinate the chicken with 1 tablespoon of oil, crushed pepper and a little salt for 30 minutes.
  • In a pan, heat oil and fry the pieces of chicken, a few at a time, till golden brown and make sure the chicken cooked well. Keep aside.
  • Put the rest of the oil in the same pan, add onions and fry till golden.
  • Now, add the tomatoes, ginger and garlic pastes and the rest of the spices, sesame and coconut and fry on medium heat till the oil separates.
  • Add the chicken pieces and salt.
  • Add 1 cup of hot water, cover and simmer till the gravy thickens.
  • Garnish with chopped green chillies and serve with hot steamed rice.


  • 12 pieces Chicken thighs
  • 5 pods Green cardamom
  • 5 Cloves
  • 5 inch Cinnamon
  • 100 grams Chopped onions
  • ΒΌ teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 2 teaspoons coarsely ground black pepper
  • 200 grams Chopped tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoon Garlic paste
  • 3 teaspoon Black sesame, roasted and ground
  • 2 tablespoon heaped Fresh coconut, scraped
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  • Green chilli for garnishing
  • 200 ml sesame oil
