Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a Balti pan, wok or large frying pan over a medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 5 minutes. Add the chilli, turmeric and spice mix and cook for a further 5 minutes.
  • Add the prawns to the pan with a little water and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add the peas and sugar and cook for a further 5 minutes, adding a little more water to make a fairly thick sauce.
  • Add half the coriander and cook for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with the rest of the coriander and serve


  • 500 grams prawns
  • 50 ml sesame oil
  • 4 small onions, finely chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 6 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3 tablespoon Balti spice mix
  • Pinch of salt
  • 200 grams peas
  • 2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon fresh coriander, chopped
