PRAWN CURRY

Preparation Time :
20 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Soak the tamarind in warm water for 10 minutes. Squeeze the pulp and strain out the juice and set aside.
  • Mix well, the first seven ingredients in a bowl.
  • Transfer the mixture into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat keep the lid on and let it simmer for 8 minutes.
  • Add the coconut milk, salt and tamarind juice.
  • Stir in the prawns briskly and let it cook till the prawns are pink and cooked through
  • Turn off the heat and serve hot with boiled white rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 350 grams de-veined, de-shelled prawns
  • 2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 5 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 2 teaspoon fresh root ginger, grated
  • 4 tablespoons coriander seed powder
  • 2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 4 teaspoon sugar
  • 500 ml coconut milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Tamarind size of a lime
