Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the onions for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Simmer to low flame and add the spices to the pan and stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add the yogurt to the onions and stir to combine.
  • Add the meat and 2 of the green chillies to the frying pan and stir-fry the mixture for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the water. Cover, cook the beef and spice mixture for an hour or more, stirring. Add more water if needed.
  • When cooked thoroughly, remove the pan from the heat and transfer the beef and spice mixture to a serving dish.
  • Garnish with the remaining chopped green chilli and the fresh coriander leaves. Serve with Roti.


  • 500 grams beef, with or without bone, cut into cubes
  • 500 ml water
  • 150 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
  • 3 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 150 ml yogurt, whisked
  • 3 green chillies, chopped
  • Fresh coriander leaves


  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole green cardamoms
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 6 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 inch ginger root, shredded
  • 5 cloves garlic, shredded
  • 6 dried red chillies, chopped
