Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and fry the fish pieces for 5 minutes, turn once gently.
  • Remove the pieces and place on a plate. Fry the onions in the remaining oil along with the fenugreek and curry leaves.
  • Add the spices, seasonings and creamed coconut and continue to fry for about 5 minutes over a low heat.
  • Stir in the pieces of fish and the fresh coriander and cream or yogurt. Cover and heat for at least 4 minutes before serving.


  • 500 grams monkfish, cut into 2.5 cm pieces
  • 5 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 2 medium onions, peeled and finely chopped
  • 50 grams fenugreek leaves 
  • 4 curry leaves 
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder 
  • ½ teaspoon crushed garlic
  • ½ teaspoon diced and crushed ginger root
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon creamed coconut
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander
  • 5 tablespoons fresh single cream or yogurt
