Makes :

Preparation Time :

Preparation Method :

  • Wash the ginger, peel the skin and chop it finely.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add chopped ginger and dry red chili stir fry for 1-2 minutes and switch off the flame.
  • Grind the Ginger, Red Chili and Tamarind to coarse paste.
  • Heat a pan, Pour oil, add mustard seeds and wait till it splutters and add urad dal, curry leaves and fry till turns golden brown.
  • Add Ginger Paste and Salt and cook on medium flame for 3 minutes.
  • Add jaggery and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Remove from flame.
  • Cool it and store in a jar.


  • 300 grams Ginger
  • 15 pieces of Dry Red Chili       
  • 1 large sized Tamarind            
  • 3 tablespoons Palm Jaggery
  • Salt to taste


  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds        
  • 1 teaspoon Urad dal              
  • 1 sprig of Curry leaves      
  • 100 ml Sesame Oil
