Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a pan; add the cloves and cinnamon sticks and saute for 30 seconds.
  • Add the onions and fry till soft. Add the garlic and ginger; saute for 30 seconds.
  • Add the turmeric powder and tomato; saute till soft and pulpy.
  • Add the rice and stir-fry for 1 minute.
  • Add the chicken stock and salt.
  • Add the chicken and bring the mixture to the boil. Cover the pan, lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes till the rice is cooked.
  • Serve hot.


  • 400 grams Rice, long-grained
  • 50 ml Peanut oil
  • 5 Cloves
  • 2 Cinnamon 1" sticks
  • 2 medium sized Onions finely sliced
  • 6 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoon piece Ginger minced
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 Large Tomato, chopped
  • 1 litre Chicken stock
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 200 grams Cooked chicken
