Preparation Method :

  • Heat the fat in a frying-pan and stir-fry the spices in it. Fry briefly to release the flavors.
  • Add the rice with stock and bring to the boil. Cook, covered for about 10-12 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
  • Take the pan off the heat and allow it to rest for 8-10 minutes. Stir through before serving.


  • 350 ml vegetable stock
  • 150 grams basmati rice, rinsed, soaked and drained
  • 1 teaspoon oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon whole coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon whole cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon whole cardamom seeds
