Preparation Method :

  • Mix the gram flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl. Whisk into a smooth batter with a little water.
  • Heat the oil in a pan; pour spoonful of batter through a slotted spoon to form small granules.
  • Fry until crisp and golden. Remove and drain the excess oil. Repeat till all the batter is used.
  • Transfer the gram flour granules in a bowl containing warm water. When the granules turn soft, squeeze the excess water. Keep aside.
  • Whisk the yogurt with salt, cumin seeds, red chilli powder in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the gram flour granules and serve at room temperature or chilled.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 litre yogurt, thick
  • 50 grams gram flour  
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • Water as required
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • A pinch cumin seeds, roasted, crushed
