Preparation Method :

  • Mix the yogurt, fennel and sugar, adjust seasoning with salt to taste. Chill.
  • Heat the oil and fry the remaining ingredients. When the chilli turns dark, pour the oil and spices over the yogurt and mix. Cover and chill before serving.


  • 500 ml plain yogurt
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 1dried red chilli
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground fennel seeds
  • A pinch of ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Few curry leaves
  • A pinch of asafoetida 
  • Salt, to taste
