ALOO CHAAT

Aloo Chaat is a healthy appetizer that can be prepared in different kinds of special events. With its nutritious ingredients like potatoes, coriander leaves, chopped onions and cumin powder, you will surely love the recipe. This can be prepared for about thirty minutes.

30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Soak tamarind in water for half an hour. Remove the pulp and strain. Add sugar and red chili powder. Mix the sugar with spoon so that it dissolves properly. Set aside.
  • Peel the potatoes and mash properly.
  • Add 1 cup onion, green chilies, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  • Divide into 4 equal portions. Make balls and then press gently between the palms.
  • Preheat a non-stick griddle over high heat. Place the potatoes on it.
  • Drizzle 2 tablespoon oil at the sides of the potatoes. Cook till one side of the potatoes gets reddish brown.
  • Turn all of them to the other side. Drizzle remaining oil and cook till the other side turns brown.
  • Remove from fire and transfer to 4 different plates. Press lightly with the hand.
  • Whip the yogurt and add rock salt.
  • Pour equally over the potatoes.
  • Add the tamarind syrup and cumin powder.
  • Garnish with the remaining onion and coriander leaves.

INGREDIENTS

  • Lemon sized tamarind
  • 200 ml water 
  • 6 tablespoons sugar 
  • 6 large, boiled potatoes 
  • 200 grams finely chopped onion
  • 4 green chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 4 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 800 ml whipped yogurt 
  • 1 teaspoon rock salt
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder 
  • 2 tablespoon cumin powder 
  • 100 grams chopped coriander leaves
