BANANA FLOWER VADAI

Preparation Method :

  • Peel the outer skin of banana flowers. Remove the centre stem and keep the others for cooking.
  • Cook the cleaned banana flowers with salt and drain the water. Keep the cooked banana flower aside.
  • Scrape the coconut.
  • Peel the onions and cut them to small pieces.
  • Cut the coriander leaves and curry leaves.
  • Grind the cooked banana flowers by adding the coconut scrapings, ginger, fried gram, salt and red chillies. It must be a very thick consistency.
  • Add turmeric powder, onions, coriander leaves and curry leaves to the ground banana flower mix.
  • Take the little quantity and make it to a vadai shape by using the other palm.
  • Heat the oil in a kadai for frying.
  • Put in the vadais; fry it till it gets light brown in colour.
  • Take out from the oil and keep on a kitchen tissue to observe the excess oil.
  • Fry the all banana flower mix by following the above method.
  • Serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Banana flowers
  • Coconut Scrapings (½ a coconut)
  • 1 teaspoon fennel
  • 2 inches ginger
  • 12 Red chillies
  • 200 grams fried gram
  • 10 small onions
  • Few coriander leaves
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • Salt
  • 300 ml Cooking oil
