Preparation Method :

  • In a bowl, mix together the sauce ingredients and set aside.
  • In another bowl, mix together the ingredients for the dumplings, whip them lightly until they form a paste.
  • Heat the oil in a deep frying pan and drop teaspoons of this batter into the hot oil.
  • Turn the dumplings over once and fry until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper.
  • Drop the dumplings into the prepared yogurt sauce and set aside to cool.
  • Make either the tamarind sauce or the masala, which ever you prefer.
  • Arrange the dumplings and yogurt sauce on a serving dish and spoon or sprinkle over the tamarind sauce or masala.



  • 200 grams urad dhaal flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 300ml water
  • Cooking Oil for deep frying

Yogurt Sauce

  • 500 grams yogurt
  • 150 ml water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
