Cooking Time :
20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Heat up a bottom pan with a drop of Sesame Oil and then add the Moong Dhal. Dry roast until the flavors pop out. To prevent any browning of the Moong Dhal, stir continuously.
  • Heat up 350 ml of Water in a separate pot and add a ½ tablespoon of Sesame Oil, add only a half spoon of the Turmeric Powder and add only a half spoon of the Red Chilli Powder.
  • Now you can add the roasted Moong Dhal to the water. Cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer until the Dhal is cooked.
  • In the meantime, you can heat up the rest of the Oil in the pan. When the oil reached a heating temperature and starts smoking, now you add the Cumin Seeds, the Bay Leafs and the Dried Red Chillis.
  • When the Cumin Seeds start open up, you can pour in the cooked Dhal. If needed, a little bit of water can always be added.
  • Finally add the remaining Turmeric Powder and remaining Red Chilli Powder, the Sugar and bring all of it to boil.

  • 350 ml of Water
  • 100 grams Moong Dhal

  • ½ Tablespoon of Turmeric Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon of Red Chilli Powder
  • ¼ Tablespoon of whole Cumin Seeds
  • ¼ Tablespoon of Sugar
  • Two large Leaves of Bay
