Preparation Method :

  • Heat the butter in a saucepan over a medium heat and add the spices, onion, ginger, garlic, potato, tomatoes, sugar and ground spice.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Fry for about 5 minutes
  • Add 2 cups of water. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the potato is soft.
  • Process the potato to a smooth puree. Return to the saucepan over a medium heat, add more hot water if needed.
  • Add the diced paneer and lemon juice and cook for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add in the fresh coriander, very small cubes of cucumber and a little diced paneer.


  • 550 grams ripe tomatoes, plunged in hot water, peeled and chopped
  • 150 grams paneer, diced into very small cubes  
  • 1 potato, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Cucumber, diced into very small cubes
