Preparation Method :

  • Take a bowl , mix the yogurt, gram flour, chili powder, turmeric and salt .
  • Press the mixture through a strainer into a pan. Add the green chilies and simmer for about 10 -15 minutes, stir occasionally, without boiling .
  • Heat the oil in a heavy pan and fry the remaining spices, crushed garlic and fresh ginger until the dried chilies turn black.
  • Pour the oil and spices over the yogurt soup, cover the pan and leave to rest for few minutes off the heat.
  • Mix well and gently reheat for a further 3-5 minutes. Ladle into warmed soup bowls and serve hot, garnished with the coriander leaves.


  • 500 ml natural low fat yogurt, beaten
  • 4 tablespoon gram flour
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Small piece ground turmeric
  • 3 fresh green chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 5 whole dried red chilies
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 5 curry leaves
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 inch piece of fresh root ginger, crushed
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, to garnish
