Preparation Method :

  • Grind the turmeric powder, chillies, asafoetida, salt and tamarind to a fine paste, adding very little water. Smear over the colocasia.
  • Heat oil and fry colocasia in batches till golden.
  • Serve hot.


  • 1 kg colocasia, cooked, peeled and chopped
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 10 dry red chillies
  • 1 teaspoon asafoetida powder
  • Salt to taste
  • A marble-sized tamarind ball
  • Cooking Oil for frying
